Pennsylvania Estate Planning & Property Tax Assessment Appeal Lawyer

James S. McClellan is a Pennsylvania attorney focused on advising clients from our Chester County and Lancaster County offices in estate planning and property assessment appeals.  By focusing our practice on estate planning and assessment appeals we are able to stay current with changes in the law and legal strategies.  We strive to provide outstanding client service at value-based fees.

Estate Planning

Our firm assists clients with all aspects of drafting effective Estate Planning documents, such as:

Effective estate planning is not a one-size fits all exercise that can be pulled from a shelf and purchased.  Likewise, it is rarely found in a simple fill-in the blank form or an online template.  Effective estate planning is custom drafted for each client by an experienced attorney that is focused on staying current with estate planning laws and strategies.  After carefully listening to your individual and family circumstances, we will recommend a planning strategy that helps you reach your goals and overcome your concerns, including: naming guardians for minor children, identifying areas requiring asset protection, saving estate taxes, planning for retirement assets, and planning for incapacity.

Further, effective estate planning does not end when you sign your documents.  It is an evolving process that must be periodically updated to review for changes in family circumstances, changes in your financial situation, changes in estate/tax law, and changes in planning strategies.  In order to ensure that your estate plan remains effective, we offer our Legacy Annual Maintenance Program (L.A.M.P.) that automatically triggers an annual review of your estate plan and provides worry-free access to your attorney.

If you do not have an estate plan or your existing estate plan is outdated, please call our office to schedule a no-fee initial meeting.

Property Assessment Appeals

We also represent clients in all aspects of Property Assessment Appeals.

Although no property owner should be obligated to pay more property taxes than is required by law, a large number of Pennsylvania property owners do just that.  All too often, property owners pay much higher taxes than their similarly situated neighbors.  In essence, some property owners are subsidizing their neighbors low taxes each year until they act to fairly lower their assessment.  We have successfully represented hundreds of property owners in Chester County and Lancaster County before their respective Board of Assessment Appeals.  We may also be able to assist you in lowering your property taxes by appealing your property assessment.

It will be our pleasure to evaluate your current property assessment to determine if you are over-assessed.
